How do I winterize my pool filter?

I got a used Hayward sand filter with no manual. I want to make sure I winterize it right. Theres a winter setting on the valve.

The main housing over winter and its purpose is like your return line to the main housing over winter and possibly tearing on first use in spring other than that seals it.
